The introduction is just that, an introduction to the place to get the traveler excited to visit.

  • An overview of what the traveler can expect while visiting the location as well as what you have laid out for them over the course of the itinerary.
  • Share why you are writing about this specific place and what connection you have to it.

Get in the ‘X’ Spirit

People often search for ways to get to know a place before their trip. This section is to give them ideas on what to read or watch before they go.

  • What to read? -Include both fact and fiction books. You want to help one dream or visualize the place but also list books that provide factual information about its history, culture, and people.
  • What to watch? - Movies or television shows that showcase the landscape or shine a light on something that is historically relevant to the area.
    • For example, for Tuscany you could include ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’ for it’s romanticism of place or the television show Medici, which highlights one of the most infamous ruling families of Florence.
  • What to eat? - Highlight traditional dishes. Must try item(s) when visiting. Any history you can impart regarding the traditional dish is welcome.
    • Include a recipe here if possible.
  • Sports - Is there a sport that one should take in while they are visiting? If so, make sure to include the time of year to watch said sport. For example, if you are visiting England, is there a futbol/ soccer team in the area? In South Africa, maybe there is a rugby match or a sailing regatta. Maybe it changes with the time of year.
